Nation’s pet owners are spending an unprecedented number of hours working from home using their dogs. And while man’s best friend could be a source of great comfort during these difficult times, dogs may also impede the work procedure. Local dog-centric businesses have some advice for pet owners who are struggling to utilize an emotionally needy canine friend.
Use puzzles to occupy dogs throughout conference calls
Nothing interrupts a conference call just like a puppy wanting attention. Based on Denise Einkauf, owner of Waggin’ Tails Daycare and Boarding, dogs are particularly prone to disrupting conference calls or videos because they’re drawn to their proprietor voices. “When you sit working, your puppy is more likely to sit quietly,” she explained. “However, when your puppy hears you speaking, they’re going to want your attention, and they’re more likely to interrupt your work.
Einkauf recommends utilizing snacks to engage a pup during major calls. The same as humans, dogs love a fantastic snack, also treats are a great tool for keeping a puppy occupied. The trick to optimizing snacktime, is to integrate those snacks to some challenging game.
“Dogs need training and physical exercise, but they also need mental exercise,” said Einkauf. “If you make it a battle, using a puzzle, by way of instance, dogs can get that mental exercise.”

The training doesn’t need to be complicated or maybe overly practical. “Teaching a puppy a hint just like’shake’ or’roll ‘ is just as precious as a significant control,” Morillo said.
Einkauf noted that pet owners do not need exclusive experience to educate their dogs new tricks. “There are a lot of great YouTube stations out there that could teach owners how to train their dogs,” she said.
